I’ve had an off and on relationship with Yoga since my mid twenties but it’s something I keep returning to.
With my artwork, I seem to always return to painting the goddess.I have begun a new journey with the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training and I feel I’m in perfect alignment with my spirit.
Not only am I learning the poses, breath work and anatomy but I’m also studying the philosophy, and the Hindu gods and goddesses which sparks a fire in me..Ever since I was a child, I had a deep interest in ancient civilizations and cultures. One of my early school projects was about the Aztec and Mayan gods. I remember painting the gods with reds, turquoise and gold. And drawing black outlines and repeated patterns of squares and circles.
I also had an intense interest in ancient Egypt. I loved to visit the Egyptian section of the Royal Ontario Museum, especially the mummies. I was bursting with excitement to see the King Tut exhibit at the AGO when it came to town. Egypt was calling me so much that I travelled there in the early 90’s. I stayed in Luxor, explored the tombs in the Valley of the Kings and Queens, saw the Karnak temple, sailed on a felucca down the Nile and rode an Arabian charger through the desert.
My heart was so full.

Since health and wellness are my number one priority at the moment, I did a 5 day sugar free challenge with Kathryn White at Thrive Nutrition and Yoga.
Just becoming aware of sugar content in processed food is a great eye opener. For example those Clifbars I was eating fairly regularly contain 21 grams of sugar! That’s a lot. I’ve continued to eliminate most of the sugar in my diet since my glucose readings are prediabetic (mostly due to my age and genetics). The recipes that Kathryn gave us were amazing and delicious like the Thai Curry and Apple Pie smoothie.
Kathryn is a cancer survivor, mentor to my adult daughter and an all round wonderful human, you will love connecting with her.
