WHAT IS ART BATTLE?
Art Battle® is live competitive painting. Painters create the best work they can in 20 minutes. As they work, patrons move around the easels, closely watching the creative process. The medium is acrylic paint and the tools allowed are brushes, palette knives or any non-mechanical implements. At the end of the round, the audience votes democratically for their favourite painting and bids in silent auction to take the work home. Art Battle happens in more than 50 cities worldwide, check artbattle.com for local listings!

Healing Garden by Ann-Marie Cheung

Love and Death

On the morning of February 5th, 2019 my Mom was rushed to the hospital with breathing problems. Shortly after (maybe an hour), she died of a blood clot in her lungs. It was so shockingly sudden, we never even got a chance to say good bye. She was in good health and so active, we had no warning signs.

I had a dream before waking this morning. The kids and I were meeting my Mom and one of my sisters to go on a boat trip. We met them on the beach. I gave my Mom a big, long hug. She felt so real and solid. I could feel the texture of the black lace top she was wearing. I’m holding on to the feeling today.

Harmony Across Horizons serves as a visual celebra Harmony Across Horizons serves as a visual celebration of the unique bond between Burlington and Itabashi, promoting the values of peace, unity, and global understanding. The design encapsulates the essence of Itabashi's meaning, "plank bridge," while celebrating the beauty of plum trees, swirling water energy, and employing a woodcut-like style. The mural's focal point is a gracefully arched plank bridge, symbolizing the connection between Burlington and Itabashi. This is mirrored on the back of the design, with a representation of the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge. The bridges serve as a visual metaphor for the cultural ties that unite the two cities.
