“Harmony Across Horizons” 2024

“Harmony Across Horizons serves as a visual celebration of the unique bond between Burlington and Itabashi, promoting the values of peace, unity, and global understanding. The design encapsulates the essence of Itabashi’s meaning, “plank bridge,” while celebrating the beauty of plum trees, swirling water energy, and employing a woodcut-like style. The mural’s focal point is a gracefully arched plank bridge, symbolizing the connection between Burlington and Itabashi. This is mirrored on the back of the design, with a representation of the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge. The bridges serve as a visual metaphor for the cultural ties that unite the two cities.”

“A Brighter Future”  2023

This artwork is a celebration of the vibrant diversity of women captured in swirling patterns of colour. It is about looking forward to a bright future after all our struggles, hardships and heart breaks. Being a single parent who has survived an abusive relationship I can strongly identify with this. This painting speaks about overcoming and rising above to create a better, brilliant future for ourselves and our children.

To commemorate Women’s Day on March 8, 2023, YWCA St.Thomas-Elgin installed this outdoor wrap mural in front of the main office at 16 Mary Street, St Thomas, Ontario. This location is not only a significant building to the hundreds of women, men and youth who have received services through their programing over the years but it has also remained a women’s residence since 1928 when it was originally built.

“YWCA has adapted, pivoted and listened to what would serve our community best through a diverse portfolio. We believe that we think outside the box (beyond the box) to meet challenges and changing community needs. We advocate for equity, ending violence against women and lobby for affordable housing for women and gender diverse peoples.”

Animal Creations

A few of my animal paintings. Materials have included acrylic paint, latex, ink and watercolour. I’ve painted on canvas, wood, furniture, on brick walls and picnic benches. I get particularly excited about creating public art. ❤❤❤

I Love Creating Public Art!

My recent public art projects include the “Elephant Garden” mural outside Railway City Tourism, St Thomas Ontario, part of the “Track to the Future” project, a painted picnic bench for “Celebrate Simcoe: The Global Garden project” placed on the lawn at the Norfolk Arts Centre in downtown Simcoe, a painted bench for ‘Visions of the City’ at the Hortons Market, St Thomas and a Video Conference Platform Digital Backgrounds project for Mural Routes Canada.

Painted Picnic Bench for the Hortons Market

I had the amazing experience of painting a picnic bench for the Horton’s Farmers Market in Downtown St Thomas Ontario.

I wanted to create a mandala to represent community gathering in a circle. The colours are bright and cheerful to add more joy. The shapes within are organic and some are plantlike to represent the harvest and bounty we visit the Market for. Vine-like swirling designs on the bench sections are symbolic of growth. You may also see this mandala as a sunflower, a symbol of hope. I hope this painted picnic bench brings much happiness and magic to our community.

Step-by-step visuals of my process are below.
